In case you haven’t heard, the Northern Rivers country town of Murwillumbah is fast becoming one of Australia’s hottest new regional tourist destinations.

Mur’bah as it is affectionately known, was recently listed #59 on Australian Traveller magazine’s highly coveted “100 Best Aussie Towns” lineup, firmly marking it an emerging tourism hotspot.

In another feather to add to the cap, a new biennial festival will make its debut in Murwillumbah in June which is expected to draw crowds from near and far.

The Lava Arts Festival will take place across three days 26 – 28 June to celebrate the thriving arts scene that has emerged in Murwillumbah thanks to initiatives like the M Arts Precinct and the Murwillumbah Arts Trail.

This contemporary arts festival will take over the town with a number of exhibitions, performances, open studios, masterclasses and conversations to showcase various mediums from fine art to photography and music.
